George Zavershinskiy

George Zavershinskiy is a writer, professor, philosopher, archpriest, and a former nuclear physicist of the USSR. He is also a husband and father. He is one man with many hats.

 

For the past 15 years, he has served as the Dean of the Orthodox Church in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Earlier in his career he was senior engineer at the National Research Nuclear University and a manager in the research laboratory for Russia Research Institute of Information Technologies, in Moscow.

 

He also was the chairman of the Parochial Council of assumption Church, in Moscow, as well as a lecturer in Biblical and Theological Studies in St. Tikhon’s Orthodox Humanitarian University in Moscow. He was a priest of the St. Paul Russian Orthodox Church in Dublin and a member of the Executive Committee of the Irish Council of the Churches.

 

Atomic Shepherd is his newest book, his 20th. He has had nine novels and 11 books on theology published. He is a member of the Writer’s Union of Russia, and has had over 100 journal or newspaper articles published. Atomic Shepherd was shortlisted by the Dostoyevskiy Literary Award. He has been interviewed by Russian TV’s First Channel, Spas, and Culture, as well as numerous Moscow radio shows.

 

He spent nearly a decade at the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute. His PH.D. thesis was “an Expert System for Nuclear Reactor Power Distribution Control.” But then he had a change of heart about his work and life path.

 

Zavershinskiy earned a Bachelor in Theology and a Master’s in theology, both from St. Tikhon’s Orthodox Humanitarian University.

 

He moved to Ireland and attended the Irish School of Economics at trinity College, in Dublin, earning a Master’s in Philosophy, as well as a Doctorate in Philosophy. For his Master’s, he was awarded the James Haire Prize for Best Dissertation.
